Silver and Red Candy Cane Nails

I, like many of you, have been seeing a lot of candy cane nail art popping up recently. I really have enjoyed them. Today I found this design and to me it stuck out from the rest.

First off, this design looks absolutely flawless. The lines are perfect, the colors look vibrant, and the accent nail is perfect with this design. After talking with the DIY nail artist, One Tough Cookie (twitter name), she told me how she did it. Let me explain;

How Do To These Silver and Red Candy Cane Nails

She told me that the perfect lines were done using nail striping. Nail striping is placing narrow tape onto the nails to create sharp exact lines and color separation.

One Tough Cookie said that this was her first time doing striping (Pretty good 1st if you ask me). She put a lot of attention into placing the stripes right. She used 4 skinny stripes per nail and after each nail she pealed them all off before doing the next nail.
