Gradient Polka Dots Tutorial

Gradient Polka Dot Nails

To be honest I am not always the biggest fan of polka dots. Don’t get me wrong I like them but I am not obsessed over them. That is one of the reasons that this design surprised me so much. I love it and am a little bit obsessed over it.

These gradient polka dot nails to me are completely different than other polka dots that I have seen or had on my nails. I guess I would categorize them as more mature polka dot nails.

So just how did I do these gradient polka dot nails? It was really easy. All you need is two colors, 1 base/top coat, and a dotting tool. You don’t have to go out and buy a professional dotting tool. In this video I simply used a ball point pen that was out of ink. To show you exactly how I did this design so that you can replicate it I made this how to nail art tutorial video.

Don’t you just love this gradient polka dot nail art?

    Hi Jocelyn!

I tried this last week and it turned out great – it looked just like your photo! I used OPI Mod About You and Rimmel Black Satin. I made one small change by reversing the colors on my ring finger by painting it black first then dotting it with pink just to make the overall design more interesting. I’m new to nail art and I really appreciate videos like yours that inspire me and show that you don’t have to be artistic to DIY. Thanks and keep ’em coming!

The pink you use cover great, what brand is it?

Hi Michelle, you could just a paint brush, a ball point pen, a toothpick… Basically things around the house that have a pointed tip would work. Just try them out on paper first, the more polish on the tip the bigger the dot, the harder you press down the bigger the dot so just experiment on paper first. Good luck!
