Galaxy Nails

About My Galaxy Nails
As an amateur nail artist, I am constantly searching for and trying out new nail art designs. Whenever I'm not feeling inspired when it comes time to do my nails, I scour sites like Tumblr, Pinterest, and of course Polishpedia, for ideas. One design I have seen everywhere (as I'm sure you have, too) is the galaxy design. I've tried this technique once before but I was not at all happy with the results. Well, today, I got back on the horse and tried again.
I'm so happy with the way this design turned out! It seems complex but, in all actuality, it's quite simple. It just takes a little bit of time.
I started by painting my nails black. I used Sally Hansen Black out. I tore small pieces from a makeup sponge and used tweezers to sponge on shades of green, purple, blue, and white. I used ORLY High on Hope, Art Club Neon Green, ORLY Fancy Fuchsia, NYC French White Tip, OPI Suzi & the Seven Dusseldorfs, and NYC Blue Moon. I wanted some subtle sparkle so I used a coat of Nubar 2010. For stars, I used a dotting tool and NYC French White Tip to make large stars. For small stars, I used a loose white pearl glitter. For lots of glassy shine, I finished the look with Seche Vite.
Isn't this a lovely look? It's so beautiful and mysterious. If you can't be an astronaut, do the next best thing and put space on your nails!
