Me and my sister had Shellac nail polish done for the first time and love it ! However when she went to have hers removed they filed the polish off rather than used wraps or acetone is this correct ?

Chris can you order the Shellac products for personal use? You stated you purchased products for home-spa. Would appreciate your feed back . Thanks!

    Hi,
I have had 2 shellac treatments done and love the effect and lasting nature. The first one was over Christmas in Gotcha – very bright (but quite baby) pink, and 2nd I just went for zillionaire. Loved both, but now what I really would like is a deep pink – I can’t tell which would be better – tutti frutti or hot chillis (or another one I haven’t seen!). Can nayone advise me?
    Thanks.

I’m practicing (not a professional but for personal use) to use the shellac nail polish, My pedicures turn out perfectly and have lasted nearly 3 weeks now, but i just cant seem to get the application right on the manicures. I have the full CND kit and Iv followed instruction and tried to do thin coats, but after a few days i can peel the polish of or the tips wear off. Can it be down to not pushing the cuticles back properly?

My last Shellac application peeled off after a few weeks. I never went back to the salon for removal. Now I have some spots under my nails where they are lifting. Is this the result of not having salon removal?

Don’t listen to manicurists that tell you that Shellac is perfectly fine for nails. I had strong nails prior to getting Shellac that grew long without breaking. After 3 Shellac manicures my nails are now brittle, break constantly and look paper thin.

After 3 shellac manicures my nails are weak, brittle and broken. Shellac is wack lol

    Hello,
Just wondering if the removal method for Shellac is safe during pregnancy.

I find it interesting that if things go wrong with SHELLAC you almost always tend to blame the tech who applied it. I do shellac in my home-spa, and it’s 50/50 as to whether or not it last the two weeks. Some clients get two weeks (or more) out of an application with no problem and with others, it peels, and comes off before even a week goes by. Since I am the ONLY person who does the Shellac manicures, it’s safe to say that I do it the exact same way every time. Why would you think it’s only 50/50?

My jury is still out as to whether I love shellac or not – especially considering how much $$ I shelled out to get all the components that make the system work!

Hi I’m a nail tech n had that same issues when I 1st started using shellac and so what I realized was if I started with a pinkie, by tha time I got to thumb tha polish seems to settle away from edges and so right b4 i put the hand under light I got back n cap edges for a 2 nd time, not too thick of course, then quickly stick it under light….works for me! Hope that helps u some!

Shellac is a great product so much better than regular polish, acrylic and gel nails…it isn’t harmful to ur natural nails as long as u soak it off in pure acetone instead of peeling it off. And as for those worried bout UV light being harmful…I looked it up n it said hands are likely to receive more uv light while in the car driving down the road then when getting UV nail services. I’m a nail tech and I recommend everyone try this product because its the miracle we’ve been waiting for…a Mani that lasts 2 weeks or longer! Tips…..it will make a difference who does it cuz not everyone will get the free edge well enough so it will start to lift and prolly won’t last as long and I use a temporary nail dehydrater then wipe nail with scrub fresh before applying shellac….I have so many more clients now that do manicures they love it and so do I!!!!

I love shellac so far its brought me many new clients. But lately i have problems with it peeling within a few days. Any suggestions on how to resolve this problem? Also many clients first few applications are great and last for the full two weeks but then they will start having peeling or bubbling. Why would this happen

I currently have artificial nail but I’m thinking of having them removed and using shellac. I want to know if you will be able to see drill lines under the shellac polish? Also will shellac wear for the same length of time since my are damaged from the acrylic wear.

    • Sherry on December 23, 2012 at 1:21 am

I went for acrylic nails to shellac polish.I like it alot better, and NO u can not see the drill lines under the polish,I do the french manicure. I will never have acrylic nails again as it damages yur own nails to bad.

Hi, I recently got a shellac manicure in “asphalt” and they look awesome! Very happy with the result so far. I was just wondering how safe it is? I was told that it does not harm your nails but I am more concerned with the chemicals and how much you inhale during the application process. I am also 9 weeks pregnant and was hoping that I made the right decision to try it. Thanks in advance for any information 🙂

    Hi,

My Shellac nail varnish is getting thick in the bottle…I have read instructions that I need to keep them in a cool place without any sunlight…but what can I use to thin the nail varish so I can continue to use it? With my old normal nail varnish I would thin it down with nail varnish remover….

    Thanks

I had my technician switch back to simple manicures because the product caused my nails to split, they didn’t grow, and moreover, I’m concerned about the exposure of the UV light so close to my hands…they actually burn. Everyone knows that exposure to UV rays causes skin cancer. Just how how safe is this procedure and has it been approved by the appropriate regulatory health agencies?

I need to know if Shellac contains formaldehyde resin, as I am allergic.
    Thanks!

    Samantha,

Shellac is designed to with stand many elements and Hawaii’s temperature, salt, and sand should not do any harm to your shellac nails.

    Hi!

I absolutly love shellac! i’ve been using it for a few months now, but had a question in regards to how it lasts in warmer climates. I’m going to Hawaii early next year and was wondering if shellac lasts in the heat, sand and salt water? Thanks for any help and tips!

      RMH,

From what you have said it is evident that the nail technician was not trained to use Shellac. It is very important that the application process is followed exactly. Where are you located? We can see what trained salons are in your area.

I am new to the shellac system, and i follow my printed sheet of instructions
crazy-close, but im still having trouble with tip wear. im not doing them on clients yet, as i work in a small hair salon, but have been practicing on my boss. her hands are exposed to water a lot, and i know the beats up normal polish. however, she has no problems with chipping/flaking/peeling, only tip wear. After just 2 days of wear the tips of her nails are almost completely gone, and I’m making sure to use very thin coats and to cap the free edge with every coat. Should I maybe do 2 basecoats, an extra color coat, or just change my polishing technique? I’d appreciate the help, as I could really use the extra money shellac can bring me, and my client would be very satisfied with perfect nails for 2 weeks. Cheers! Thanks!
