When I got my nails done at the salon, they put a quick layer of something on before the base coat that appeared oily. What is this called? Is it necessary?

Probably the Scrubfresh stuff. It helps tclean the nail and helps the color last longer

One more item to add: I just changed the bulbs as well since I thought this was the reason the ruffle problem was happening.
    Any comments greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

I was just wondering if anyone else out here has had this problem. After I cure the base coat, I then do the first color coat and some of the nails when they come out of the machine are not smooth but ruffled looking. It doesn’t happen all the time so I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong I also try to put on as thin as possible. Also, I always do the thumb alone should I put it in the middle of the machine or towards the side it happens to this finger mostly. Any responses will be greatly appreciated.

Michele, is your bottle old ? or have you done more than 4-5 applications with it. Apparently, once the bottle starts getting half way or so it starts getting thickish. Perhaps this is the case. Happened to me using my training schools Shellac. Only on one or two nails.

      Hi

I think that because the thumb doesn’t lay flat the polish tends to slide, so it might be helpful to put on 3 very thin coats.
