Learning Nail Art

Nail art is an essential part of a manicure. It takes manicures and pedicures to a whole new level but we all know how expensive they can be at the salon when they add a rhinestone for $5 extra. The truth is, we can add our own rhinestones and polish designs for a lot less.

Hi, my name is Jocelyn and I blog about nail art! I am overjoyed to have the opportunity to share with you my adventure of learning nail art. I have done my own nails since I can remember and now I am taking it to the next level.

Day 1: Learning Nail Art

If you are learning nail art for the first time I would suggest to go simple. There are great nail art kits you can buy at any grocery or beauty supply store.

I went to Kroger last night and bought an easy to use nail art kit called Nail Artist Paint and Stencil Kit by KISS. The kit was fairly inexpensive and it doesn’t require years of experience to use (it was the perfect starter kit for me). Using a nail art brush is an acquired skill that takes time to learn.

These brushes are thin and easy to use freehand and with a stencil.

Beginner Nail Art Designs

Here are some of the designs I was able to do with just these three colors that came in the pack: *Always start out any nail polish design with a base coat of clear to protect the natural nail.

Step 1:

I started out by creating a french manicure that I lined the white with a line of silver glitter polish to give it a more glamorous look.

Step 2: Then I took one of the stencils and placed it in the center of the nail. I covered the stencil in black and waited 20 seconds for it to dry then peeled back the stencil.

Finished Design: In the end I had a very cute crossbones decal that I placed on my middle finger nail because I am going for a “Bad A” look. Pretty cute huh?!

Are there instructions in the kit for cleaning the stencil? If not, then do you have any advice? Just wipe it down with acetone?

      Jennifer,

Yes, I would simply wipe it down with acetone. It should clean it up nicely. Let me know if you have any more questions. 🙂
